Cell biology is the study of cells. The cells are the most important and sometimes referred to as the building blocks of life. It is the smallest unit in an organism but plays a vital role in growth and development of the living organisms. With the number of cells the organisms are identified as unicellular and multicellular. It is the fundamental unit of life that governs the functions in living organism.
The study of cells makes us acquaint with the vital functions of cells; all cells have hereditary information that proves helpful to regulate cell functions and transmit information to the next generation cells. Each cell is some what self sufficient and self- maintaining and have capability to take nutrients and transform them into energy. They reproduce when needed and perform some very important functions. Each cell has their set of instructions stored in them. These sets of instructions help them to carry out their own tasks.
There are mainly two types of cells the prokaryotic and the eukaryotic cells. The prokaryotic cells are independent whereas the eukaryotic cells exist in multicellular organisms. Both the types of cells have membrane that encompass the cell, maintain electric potential of the cell and other such functions. Inside there is salty cytoplasm and other kinds of biomolecules. All cells have hereditary material of genes DNA and RNA.
